Whirlwind Summer

How did it happen?  The summer came and went (well it was a really short one this year) and a month has gone by since my last post (oops!)

It has been busy to say the least!  Hayden started school at the end of August.  We switched schools to one closer to home.  It was a bit heart wrenching when we told Hayden about the change and he started to cry, saying that he wanted his "same school, same friends, same bus" The reality was he made some wonderful friends - as did we, through him - but many of them were also changing to new schools.  He is now in 'Reception' at a British run school. It's quite a bit busier, with daily homework assignments and things to organize.  It's quite a bit bigger - the campus, the buses.  And we have to rush a bit more in the mornings, racing to the tram stop at 7:30, rather than getting picked up right at our apartment.  But it is much more organized (good for us) and much more regimented (good for Hayden) with a touch of Hogwart's flare (team points and a revered head mistress).

We also went on vacation.  Here in Europe, July and August are the months to go "on holiday" and people take two to three weeks off.  We stuck to the American way and took a week off, to go to Majorca, Spain.  It was so relaxing.  We should have taken two weeks. :)  We had lots of great beach time.  Hayden LOVED making sand castles and playing in the water.  Beckham loved the feel of the sand and couldn't get enough of the water - even after consuming a little of each.

The trip coincided with our friends' wedding.  It was the most perfect wedding - a destination wedding on the bluffs overlooking the sea.  And so many personal touches and amazing attention to detail - so beautiful!

Hayden's birthday present to me

We surprised Hayden with a night to a Pirate themed dinner show.  It was a bit Cirque du Soleil and theatre.  He had so much fun!

We spontaneously rented a paddleboat one afternoon.  We had not even planned to go to the beach!  It was so fun!

It was such a fantastic trip and we made wonderful memories with our amazing boys!
