The Last Hurrah

During the final week before Marty's parent left, they took a train to Paris and spent a few days exploring the city.  We enjoyed a low key weekend, taking our first family bike ride and checking out a little soapbox derby race.

Then we all went to Gruyères.  Home of delicious cheese, double creme and meringue, the Cailler chocolate factory...and the Alien bar.  It was the perfect time to take a drive, with fields and fields of beautiful bright yellow flowers.  It was breathtaking to see these bright spots throughout the lush green of the countryside.  When I told Hayden we were going to a castle, he was so excited.  He said he wanted to go see the King.

Before Marty's parents came, I created two documents of things to do and meals to prepare.  Gruyères and Cailler were on the list as was going to try filets de perches.  The restaurant we tried was new to us and their lemon butter preparation was delicious!

It has been nearly a week since Marty's parents left.  It was truly a memorable visit for us all and I am glad we got to enjoy some quality time with them, and them with the boys.
